Calcio in costume recalls the match of 17 February 1530: during the siege of Florence, citizens played in Piazza Santa Croce as an act of defiance.
Today the San Giovanni tournament brings together four historic districts. Two semifinals lead to the final, traditionally held on 24 June, the patron saint's feast day.

Each colour carries the name of a historic district. Two semifinals lead to the San Giovanni final, with the pride of the supporters carried onto the pitch.
