Pisa - every last Saturday in June
History
The first documented edition dates to 22 February 1568. It descends from the ancient Mazzascudo, suspended for 128 years because of excessive violence and revived in 1935 with sixteenth-century costumes inspired by Medici-era prints.
Every year more than 700 people in historical costume parade along the Arno before the battle, turning Pisa into a Renaissance city.
